Core Outcomes
- Master Plan: Evaluation of all options & short listing, concept notes, tech evaluation, benchmarking, etc.
- Layout Management: control & fixing of Take Over Points; final approval
- Engineering Execution Plan: CU propose packaging philosophy; PM + Engineering Manager finalise
- Resource Assessment: Ensuring timely release of payments as per payment terms
- Progress Management: with inputs from Planning
- Flash Points Management: inter-function issues and flash points.
- Change Management: Monitoring changes and deviations with feedback to sub DU / CU
- Statutory Discipline: w.r.t. layout and engineering related issues
- Productivity: Monitoring earned man-months and savings
Key Practices
- Monitoring competency levels – higher DU level monitoring the lower DU level
- Regular follow ups with CU / sub-DU / other G6
- Well in Time practices
Should Do
- Interact with all CU and coordinate for integration of all process units
- Compile and finalise the layout after evaluation is done by respective CU
- Collect Master Documents from CU and allocate resources based on scope of the work for each CU
- Resolve competency issues with CU
- Review project milestone with Planning and finalise after consultation with CU
- Review the project progress on a regular basis (once a month for top level DU)
- Have regular inter-DU review sessions
- Encourage CU to resolve their issues at their end itself
- Own the ECR sent by CU (changes) and ensure project is not affected
- Collect learnings from all CU and build knowledge / documentation for future projects
Should not do
- Impose construction methodologies in engineering
- Interact outside of E&P
- Avoid shortcuts
- Make assumptions – always check data first
- Get involved in commercial aspects
- Play other roles unless otherwise instructed by the organisation
G6 Interface
- Status updates to G6 on issues / concerns on real time basis
- Sharing of analysis on variance, pain points, discussion issues w.r.t. commitments
CU Interface
- Through sub-DU EMs, input requirements for various CU to meet targets
- Interact on 6KPIs observations from time to time
- Troubleshoot issues escalated by sub DU EM / Project DU EM
- Escalate to CU leads on support requirement w.r.t. competency or number of resources or any other technical resolutions
